    Hi guys,

I will be going to HK next month and am looking to purchase some pandas.

Is anyone aware of any restrictions on how much I can bring back or if I will have problems in customs? I dont see it being one but was more asking to see if anyone knows of any rules where I might have them confiscated.

Dont want to be losing all my silver on the way back!!

    Thanks

They shouldn't be confiscated as they don't really pose much of a threat to anyone. Someone here has had their metal stored in the cockpit as they were kilo bars and could be considered 'weapons'.

From what I've read on SS, it's a good idea to hold proof of purchase of all the items and to ask for a private screening instead of having to take all your metal out for everyone to see.

If it's over $10k in value, it would be a good idea to declare it on your customs form as I think honesty is the best policy (we've all seen the airport secuirty shows where those that don't claim things get into trouble very quickly and are under immediate suspicion). Can't find the thread about declaring the face value vs true value of coins so maybe someone else can help there.

Also, customs may try to tax you as they don't really 'get' PM's... if they do, ensure you get the tax receipt, that everything is properly documented and find out how to go about getting the refund.

Just some info I found using the search function ;)
