Exit polls have Labour losing as many as 60 seats. The second Brexit vote is in. Bye Bye Brussels.

Now do we say "Make Britain Great Again" or "Make Great Britain Again?"

    Watching BBC just now.

They'd showed that the top 55 Labour seats likely to flip to the Tories this election all voted "Leave EU" in 2016.........When will politicians listen to the electorate.

    edit due to typo

SNP vote is up strongly thus I think once Brexit is done and dusted, Scottish nationalism on the back of their election success will be the big issue for Boris to deal with.

    Anyone playing this?

I gave it some thought on Tuesday and Wednesday but decided I didn't want to take the risk on the polls being wrong - again. USD1.40 was the number I heard it could get to.

Just came across a Tory ad...Can't imagine ScoMo, Albo or prior party leaders trying this angle.

This will give courage for Scotland to finally break the yoke of imperialism and seek independence

I haven't been following too closely, but how does this new majority change things now? Can they "just leave" now?, or does it still have to involve some "deal brexit" (whatever that really means)?

As Scotland is 1/3 the land mass of the UK, with only 8% of the population, a GDP of circa GBP180m pa, govt deficit of GBP12.6b or 7% of GDP as opposed to the UK's 1% deficit as against GDP, Scottish Government's £941 million income tax shortfall is offset by £737 million increase in UK Government funding in 2017/18.....and their banking sector got smashed in 2007/8/9 (and never recovered to it's grand high wire heights) and north sea oil (while it lasts) only contributes approx GBP1-1.5bn pa (and who owns that will be fight)

If Scotland did gain independence, big employers like the Clyde ship yards who build the UK's naval boats would shut up shop, UK Defence bases would close, the Scots would have to fund their own police, defence force and associated govt infrastructure which England provide...and that's going to cost plus any EU membership fees.

So if Scotland does want to go it alone, they risk becoming the poor man of Europe real quick, but then again they love a bit of good old socialism in the north so Scotland could get some PRC money real easy I think and call themselves "New Beijing".

Perhaps if Ireland reunites, Scotland and Ireland can merge and become Celtland with Prince Andrew as the new King!

Meanwhile, the Ununited Kingdom can become Little Britain.

would be easily offset by mandating more oil rig work for North Sea.

I’m sure Scotland would welcome Beijing Money with both arms out, for some of the cash London has been getting.
England is number 1 destination for Chinese infrastructure investment for the last twenty years

Brexit is going to be a huge mess but in the future when the EU disintegrates and the little civil wars start between native europeans and illegal immigrants it will be able to keep it's sovereignty. And the big bonus to Brexit is that England will immediately be able to set up free trade agreements with other countries (like Australia) and take charge of their own economy.

The EU's worst nightmare is yet to come...In a couple of / three years when it emerges that the sky didn't fall and the UK didn't walk off the edge of a cliff but after a few hiccups are doing okay, other nationalists in Europe will be demanding the same.

Can't see the EU surviving if France went nationalist due to a Le Penn / other election win next time (mid 2022) which is a possibility given last election results and current climate ie yellow vest protests / hatred of Macron etc....Le Penn / other will campaign on a "Leave the EU" platform and if successful will be the domino that starts the exodus by other nations such as Hungry, Finland, Austria.

It'll sure be interesting to watch how UK and Euro left media spin Brexit over the next 12-24 months and it's influence on Euro politics.

Eventually only Cyprus will be left in the EU, which paradoxically is the only EU country not in Europe. However, with Australia's push into Eurovision and potentially NATO, we will probably be head of Europe!
