Just curious if maybe someone can tell me what happens to the boxes and coa's when coins get graded and put into new packaging?
usually the owner won't send the packagings as they won't be returned.. from memory there's a company in the US who sells these 'confiscated' boxes/coas
They get lost. Or sold on eBay! The box is no longer needed (and most of my older ones are disintergrating anyway) The Grading company is already certifying that it is not a fake so the CoA is superfluous. Once you split them up there is a chance they will never be reunited. I would be interested to know what others do but in my opinion there is not much point in grading a coin that comes with a CoA, it is going to a high grade, or worth less if it isn't a 69 or 70.
Some get sold on ebay, I guess people buy them who lost or damaged their own packages. Some Redback boxes and coa's recently sold in the $25 region on feebay.
uuuuuuuumm, have you seen those 1oz boxes Perth have? The ones that take 12 coins? A member here by the name of Peter Strich Stamps Coins sells them. http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-32217-sii-lunar-boxes.html
