BTC might not be out of the woods yet apparently. The 2x Hardfork is not scheduled to activate until Nov this year and there is it seems quite a bit of distrust between the Core and Jihan side of things when it comes to the larger block size actually happening. https://coinjournal.net/bitcoin-developers-bitmain-accuse-making-false-promises/ https://news.bitcoin.com/viabtc-launching-bitcoin-cash-token-mining-pool-bitcoin-abc/ Look's to be an insurance policy if things don't work out as planned, and there is also a lot of murmuring on Redit and Twitter https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/6oksam/bip91_lockin_does_not_guarantee_segwit_will_be/ https://twitter.com/JihanWu/status/888035149073457154 And then there is also that comment from John Mc Affee about backing whichever BTC Jihan is backing and taking millions in bets on it as well.
yep we already talked about this over here www.silverstackers.com/forums/index.php?threads/buying-the-next-dip.85413 near the bottom of the first page. This is nothing new and has been on the cards for a long time.
There is still a bit of residual FUD from this latest battle over SegWit. But no doubt about it there will be another round of argey-bargey come November, if not sooner. The root issue here is not about SegWit, the Hard Fork or even the scalability of Bitcoin....it is about the governance. The way Bitcoin is structured, the block miners have the voting power. The Users and Devs can kick and scream all they like, but in the long run they will just be p*ssing in the wind. That is one of the reasons I am now deep-diving into Graphene. Yes, it's a bit more centralised then we all would like, but the governance structures are far better.
Interesting video. A lot of it was fairly predictable question/answer, but I was very interested around the 26-27 minute mark where they talk about some of the other coins splitting the mining reward with holders and nodes who provide service to the network (ie, PoS & Masternodes). Jihan said it was a good thing and a good idea....even though his vested interests is clearly with the PoW miners. That did surprise me considering he kind of dodged other questions or gave diplomatic answers.
