Anyway, it will be interesting to see how these coins (12 x 2oz proof set) sell on the secondary market. I don't think many people will keep the coins as a 12 x set, they'll most probably be flipped; I'd say the Dragon, Mouse, and Tiger will quickly be absorbed by collectors. If the increase spurs collectors emotions (Which we have seen) we could witness the selling off of 3 coin sets but not as sets but as individual coins; if that happens, there's probably going to be reduced premiums for the 1/2oz Dragon (4,000 mintage) the 1/2oz snake will die with a mintage of 8,000. The other 1/2oz proofs could go into collections but a person would have to be very weary collecting 1/2oz series 2 silver proofs because, like I said before, Perth could issue a 12 x 1/2oz set in the future. I'm very disappointed with Perth. H
And here they are. Indeed. Even on the Perth Mint's blog they have confessed that they have broken their CoA (for what thats now worth) statement which reads "No more than X of these coins will be released". Well, more than X have now been released. The Perth Mint will from now on have a CoA saying that "No more than X of these coins will be released in this packaging". So, the change in their wording is a confession is it not that the Perth Mint has broken its own CoA pledges ?!?
They have previously stated on their website that some of the coins are sold out (for example mouse and ox silver proof variants) only to later sell them again. They are now listed as unavailable and the Perth Mint has given a clear indication that they will remint them up to the minage limit. Collectors are losing a lot of money when they reissue coins. This will damage Perth Mints reputation in the long term and lead to lower sales in the future. It's just a very stupid business decision. I suggest that we sue them for the difference between the highest amount ever paid on ebay minus the price of the reissue, for every item they reissue in breach of previous promises and announcements.
The Australian Lunar Series II - 2oz Silver Proof Twelve-Coin Collection is currently Unavailable on the Perth Mint website. Did anyone end up staying awake to purchase them? In terms of class action, would it better to just vote with future purchases? i.e. Don't buy any more proofs
they have been treading a fine line, they have crossed it now so like a beast who has been blooded they can not go back. they will always want blood now. just pretty sure they wont be getting mine.
FYI, I refunded the snake 3 coin set x 2 , as well as 1oz snake proof x 2. Money came pretty quick, second day after they received the items.
How many of these sets did the Perth Mint sell on their website? How fast did they sell out? I don't see them available on any of the Australian dealer websites. Only silver-corner has them and they don't seem to sell well there at all. It's very strange.
Most of the commissioned coins can be bought at the mint, all the Downies coins, the Coinclub coins etc. They sell a few and the majority goes to the one who ordered them. Sometimes the other dealers get an allocation as well. That's why I was asking, how many were available at the mint and were they available anywhere else?
The issue is this - is there any guarantee you will be given priority to buy the remaining 6 coins in the set over the next 6 years??? Or are you going to be left with: a) an incomplete set or b) having to pay "whatever" on ebay to buy the last few coins ?
I thought the issue was the PM has taken to REMINTING OUT OF MINT PROOF COINS that were generating scarcity premiums in the aftermarket and now a new supply wil dilute the supply driving the price down leaving those currently holding them with a short term monetary loss? And the further loss of confidence that any purchase you have made from the Perth Mint with given assumptions about stated mintages can now be speculated as possibly be reminted... Its similar to consumer and business confidence now in Australia... when people face UNCERTAINTY their decisions change.. IE: people save money if they are uncertain of the future. Related to the PM messing with proir year mintages.. People will not buy there product if they are uncetain about the future of there purchase.. consumers will eventually work out they are being screwed.. although it looks like a case of stockholm sydrome with many SS still willingly enjoying being fleeced of there money to buy proofs at 3 x spot.. and then complaining when they are reminted down the track.. i dont mind the complaining as its not the Stackers that caused this.. but now you know will you still love your PM? 1for1
i think long and hard before purchasing any PM coins and for the most part i can not justify buying 99% of it.
Did anyone received this set already ? Any pictures ? I am still waiting, package not even dispatched.
