    The other day I heard the postie outside and went to sign for my package. They took three steps back and told me to stay away. Placed my package on the floor, signed for me and left. Has the world gone fucking nutso?

    YES!

    Into Woolworths today. Shelves looking distinctly third world with the most amazing goods not taken - long life milk, rice, flour - staples we used to call them. The mood was very olde world amongst customers and staff. Shaking heads at the madness of Monday.

    One of the most depressing pictures I saw in the papers was the long line of pensioners filing into the stores yesterday at 7am for {"their" turn at the aisles before they're elbowed out of the way by the youth.

    Nutso indeed.

    Don't know why they let the elderly line up only to show them empty shelves.

    Just thought I would provide some personal updates re: auspost deliveries.

    As most are aware, signing for packages are no longer offered. I use a PO box so not really an issue for low value items but those expecting large bullion shipments... Some dealers have advised they will not send under these conditions.

    Anyway this is what I am experiencing:

    Item sent to Europe;
    Posted in post office Brisbane @0910 Fri 20.03 - last scan Bris facility 1530 on Mon 23.03 - no eta

    2 items sent to Sydney;
    Both posted in post office Brisbane @1000 on Tue 24.03
    Item 1 last scan Syd facility @1930 on Thu 26.03
    Item 2 last scan Syd facility @2220 on Thu 26.03 - No ETA for either

    Item sent to me from Sydney parcel post
    Sent @1000 on Fri 27.03 - last scan Bris facility @1500 today - ETA tomorrow

    Not sure why Bris to Syd takes longer than Syd to Bris?
    Overseas delays are obvious.

    Sounds like their quarantining the packages for 14 days or more :D

    I wonder if they got to stay at the Hilton?

    people are OTT spooked now that it’s hard for me to keep my chuckles to my self at the shops now. Half way down the isle at Coles today and I have creeps eye balling me from the start of the isle because they are too shit scared to enter and walk past me.

    Put on some protective eyeware, face mask and a floppy hat and they really poop themselves. I had an older Chinese couple wouldn't get in the same lift as me dressed like that, so funny.:D:p:eek:

    Australia post is pretty much as normal for domestic deliveries, so they say. Anyhow I got this in my email today, 30/03/2020.
    __
    Post offices are still open for business across the country providing sending and receiving, retail and banking services. Any changes due to the ongoing impacts are available in our important updates section on our website.

    Our post offices have implemented social distancing protocols to increase your safety, and other measures are coming soon to improve hygiene and reduce risks.

    Our army of posties and drivers are still out across Australia trying their hardest to deliver parcels first time and providing contactless doorstep delivery. We know you love to greet them and have a chat, but to help us all, please remember we need to do this from a distance now.

    Apparently the virus can last for up to 3 days on plastic, 2 days on metal, 24hrs on cardboard and 3hrs on copper... no mention of gold or silver :rolleyes:
