You're welcome mate, appreciated Unfortunately this will probably be the last auction I'll be running for the foreseeable future... Little disappointed with the under-whelming response to Lots 1 (Olympic Set) and Lot 3 (Hutt River rounds)...despite my best efforts to raise the profile of these, they basically went for what scrap jewellery goes for (under spot ) Nice pick-up for Bidder #15 though Thanks again to all who participated in, and watched, this and previous auctions...very much appreciated
Got a feeling (hoping, maybe ) that we're going to look back on these "high" spot prices and find out they were actually dirt cheap
^^^ I've been rubbing my crystal balls since 1983 that silver will rocket..... When she goes bro see you on easy street
Don't feel too bad about a couple of your items underperforming, and don't let that put you off auctioning other goodies in the future, @adze67. The 1993 Olympic 3 coin issue set is notorious for bringing low prices consistently over the years., I should know as I had a set many years ago. I purchased it in the mid-1990s a couple of years after the set was issued, and resold it in about 2001 for I think about $250! And if that was not bad enough I still had to pay commission to the auction house for selling it for me. Not sure why these coins always fail to attract bidding competition as I found them to be attractive well-produced and packaged items. In regards to the Hut River Provence coins, those coins have a small specialist collector following, and in hindsight maybe a listing on broader selling platforms such as eBay or Facebook marketplace would have been a better option for achieving the best price.
