Thanks. I just tried switching to using a privacy VPN located outside of Australia and everything is suddenly better. No idea what that means.
Yep, was half loading pages, freezing, slow loading etc All other websites and forums are fine, so must be SS
I thought that too, just may be server issues as opposed to this site. As an aside, our eftpos terminal has been a major right PITA this last two weeks or so. I blame Talisman Sabre, you know, Yanks, over-the-horizon -radar, nuclear fallout, over-here-over-sexed etc - or that's what some of our customers tell me. And as we all know, the customer is always right. I prefer to blame Telstra though, there's less letters in that.
I'm currently trying cotse.net. Its in the U.S. so any security agency could be listening in, but it's not really an anonymity service, just a privacy service to mask your source address. Probably better to use a VPN service outside of the U.S. for greater security.
Why pay for it when there are free annonymis web surfing sites out there then? Then there are also apps that hide your IP address.

There's also different levels of privacy that you may not get such as handing over you details to the authorities without a fight, keeping records, logging activity, low level encryption, doesn't support torrenting etc. All depends on what you're doing and level of security you think you need.
I've turned it off on my phone because Google maps is useless when it thinks I'm in LA! Ps, there's a few paid VPN's available for free if you know where to look...
