RAM. stand has a big lineup? can't figure out why. pm stand has no Que got a couple of purple dragon just for fun
yeah the press had no Que, could just walk up. purple dragons do not seem very hot... nice panda show collection
ASE @ $39 Kooks @ $40, 10@ $380 '93 carded Kangaroos @ $40 A few silver bars Plenty of sovereigns. No queue at the purple dragons and no customer limit. Big queue at RAM, assumed it was for the mobile press. Probably was, you queue to pay for the mint your own, then you go up to the mint your own machine and push the button. I know a few people from the coin collecting forums were taking orders for them, I had an order for 3 but the guy cancelled, saved me a wait. I got there about 10 minutes before the start, queue was running down the street, my wife estimated around 150 in front of us, I would have put it no more than 100 or so. Got in (thanks for the money off vouchers Hiho) went straight to the Perth Mint to get the purple worm. A few people milling around the stall but no queue, went straight up and bought some dragons in the mid 20s. Once again parking was crap, had to go to the local shopping centre, bought some coffees and the have a decent deli there so I feel no guilt. The show prices were about $10 more than the same items last year, e.g. a large album for $45 when last year the same guy was selling them for $35. The Panda display was one of the better displays, one of few that was there, usually a lot more of them. A couple of stackers there as well, probably quite a few, we really should work on a badge of some sort! Bought my dragons, had a quick look around, didn't buy anythng else, didn't get anything at the mobile press (it used to be $3, last year it went up to $10, I don't rate them that much), won't be going back next year. (unless they have the snake privy Dragons as a show special)
Just got home from the show.I had to leave,no more money leftTalked with some members.Picked up some extremely good bargains They were hiding under the table Man,you have to look everywhere and at least 4 timesThis was my first ANDA coin show visit.I expected more dealers and coins but overall was OK.Food was crap(just checked it,did not have any) as usually places like this.
Haha that TAWP secret signal gets used at our house quite a bit! Just got back home, met up with Thucy, Hem9, samboyellowsub (who sold me a nicely wrapped libertad, thanks buddy!), boyou. Apparently I just missed you Jislizard. Picked up a coupla purple dragons (my daughter REALLY wanted one!) ours are #43 & #44. I was surprised at the lack of queue too at the PM stand. We got to the show at exactly 10am (no parking issues at all actually in the sports ground next door) and joined the long queue, but inside was uncrowned. Picked up 10 x '66 50c for $100. All the other bullion was overpriced as I assumed it would be (well not crazily overpriced, but compared to the deals we smart stackers can get haha!). My daughter and I looked at everything and felt very uneducated! Was fun though and I would go again
@Jislizard - prices on the Sovereigns? I've been thinking of buying a few but if the prices are good at the show I might just go. @M_T_B - $10 each for 50's - good price too there - might need to get me some of that
Hey XB - they were in good nick too - looked like there were at least another 15 available - on the stand right opposite where you can fill out your entry form for the draw (a trestle table with a dark-blue cloth and a red entry box). They were priced @ $10.50 ea and I made an offer that they didn't refuse There were tons of sovereigns of all kinds and prices - I've no idea about price/type though, so will leave it to the experts hehe
I think I picked up all the 50's Im not really into sovereigns either but the coca-cola went for about $395-$440,the 1980 proof $245...They offered me a kilo post '46 for $375 but not into that so I left it. If someone wants know where these ones were drop me a Pm
Most of the sovs I looked at were numis and priced in the $475 area. Probably some cheaper but I wasn't really looking to hard.
"Be thankful", yeah right, I'll be thankful when we have a mint that considers Australian customers first not as an after thought unlike most other country's mints. Besides i think I'm old enough to decide what i should or shouldn't be thankful for but thanks for the advice all the same.
ANDA show was fun. Met up with all the guys Macros_the_Black pointed out and some more. Cheapest gold i noticed were Austrian Ducats ( around 5 coins ) ( @ BV + 10%) 10 Austrian Corona also BV + 10% 20 German Marks BV + 10% all ze other gold was numismatic territory. Plenty of Sovs and Half Sovs too. Coffee cost $2.50 when it should have cost $0.80
