Hi Guys, Initially, I thought I'm the only one who has changed the buying patterns to the small coins, now this official data has proven that more people are having the similar mind set to mine. Is this purely because of Dragon? http://www.perthmintbullion.com/au/...g_Sales_Trend_Emerges_-_What_s_Your_View.aspx
That's how I replied to Stephen Ward's post too. $7 over spot on a 1/2oz silver (some online dealers even less), although it's high in terms of percentage to the coin itself, the entry cost to own one of the dragons is consider low, just $22 per coin. I guess Perth Mint would want to mint even smaller size coins in the future, 10g? 1/4oz? 1/10oz? Most likely 1/4oz coins.
Well 1 of those is mine, and I only got it for my dragon collection. Not sure who bought the others or why. I am not a big fan of the smaller coins but apparently quite a few people are.
Premium is too high for this coin. I would rather buy some 1 oz panda with similar premium, which would have better chance to appreciate in value
Not sure if I agree. Have sold 2x1/2oz S1 Lunars for much higher combined value than 1oz S1 Lunar on it own The current premimum from one online dealer is $3/oz? yes it's extra but give the overall baring cost and smaller 'fractional' outcome, think it's pretty reasonable. Compare to a 2oz which is only slightly cheaper than 2x1oz. I would prefer 2x1oz or 4x1/2oz anyday. Anyway - just MHO
With the 1oz unavailable the other sizes will have soaked up the excess demand. I suspect the 2oz will exceed the 1oz mintage of 300,000.
I got a few to start my Dragon collection. Currently waiting on delivery of a few more 5oz Dragons - they are very nice to hold ! The half oz coins are lovely but as pointed out earlier, watch the premiums.
I started of with some roles of 1/2oz Lunar Coins as I thought they were a reasonable price and then managed to get a few 1oz Lunar bullion coins from a stacker on the forum. Thanks Ned They seem to be the hardest to track down and at a good premium. From that, I have just received in the post a few 2oz, a 5oz and now my favourite, the 10oz Lunar Dragon from GS. Would love to rip open the capsule just to feel it. But hey, thats the downside Cheers markcoinoz
Tulving usually only sells things in large quantities and they currently have the .5, 2 & 5oz dragons for sale. So my guess is that all three sizes have been minted in large quantities.
"To date there has been demand for a little over 26,000 5oz silver bullion Dragon coins, compared to 8,030 for the preceding Rabbit year."
with the price this low 26.67 1oz is affordable again, so is 1/2oz...the sold halfing will continue to increase
