So the state who had to pay $9000 MWh (rather them $40 in rest of Australia) in July due to no wind and killing Gas and Coal power station have today gone DARK due to interconnect problems lol.

    Go renewable!

I wonder how many accidents there will be in a state without traffic lights? Windmills not working out very well I take it?

    Incredible!

No need to fantasize about an EMP event when a severe storm will do the trick.

    Seems very vulnerable.

Hospitals should have backup generators (I hope they've tested them previously) but I wonder what happens to people with home medical equipment that requires power?

When an entire state goes down, presumably even those with their own home power storage won't be able to communicate unless the comms centres have backup generators?

Very hard to believe that this could happen in Australia in 2016.

    The S.A. leadership should resign,pitiful.

No doubt the falsehoods and excuses will be flowing in the morning. The storm will be Tony Abbott's fault for axing the carbon tax or something.

It's all ok, the entire state grid was designed to shut down this way if the transmission interconnector is hit by lightning

SA haven't heard that all other states have redundancy high up on the requirement hahhahahhahhhaaa

    Yeah won't they ever!

I've kept mine fairly basic but I was inspired by storms to start prepping for a few days without power. I've gone a bit further now but I definitely feel less vulnerable.
