    Hello there stackers

I thought I would share my latest stacking addiction. BASE METALS

I made a furnace that can melt aluminum with ease (about 15 mins from cold to molten) out of cheap materials, then used aluminum flashing (99% pure Al) to make ingots.

My goal is to use all the scrap AL I get and make bars however nearly all scrap AL is an alloy of some form so I think ill aim for 95% pure ingots

    :)

Nice. With so many people beginning to pour their own bars, I might start doing it soon as well

What are you using for moulds? Have you come across any ways of improving quality? YouTube might be your friend on that one.

The mould need to be heated up as well, then slowly cool it down.
Look like the cast have cool down too fast, so the middle shrinkage too much, 2 cent opinion

your right, this was a proof of concept before I used my good stuff. I used a sawn off fire extinguisher as a crucible and a bucket of play sand as a mold lol

Now I have a graphite crucible and a graphite mold. also I have made a smaller propane furnace for the mold to be heated up in.

I do actually like the sunken centre look tbh, my fav perth mint silver 10oz looks like that.

Ill pop some better pic up of the higher quality stuff when I run it again.
