The privatisation of Japan's railway network has been successful.
But that's because they have a high population in a relatively small area that makes economies of scale viable.
I don't think it would work in Australia, where we cannot even organise a blowjob in a brothel, with the exception of Craig Thompson, apparently.

Something like 47% of people who voted this election were over the age of 50 due to our ageing population. Thats where the liberals got their votes from. People over the age of 60 should be stripped of their right to vote due to their short sightedness. Next to no one over that age gives a shit about infrastructure like the NBN, hospitals, education reform or climate change because in 20 years or less they will be dead. They are selfish and only care about themselves, not the greater good of society. Old people of all generations have held society back and Im sure when Im an old fart ill be just as bad. When old people lose their right to vote then and only then will society advance. :p

It wasn't till I got into Govt in Brisbane years after she'd left politics that I found out how crooked she was.

I agree 100% Australia has a small population spread out over a huge amount of land and thats why privatisation of transportation infrastructure, communications infrastructure etc will only result in the average australian getting shafted. Just look at the sydney airport, the entire place has turned into a clusterfuck of greed just so shareholders can get their dividend. Thats what most people see when they first enter Australia ffs.

Is this a snapshot of a modern day labor voter?

    Sad if it is.

I could be wrong, but if I remember correctly there were small businesses who were sacking people and re-employing them for 2/3rds of their wages. Good for the Chiefs, not so good for the Indians.

Last person that you would want to work for.

Thousands of kids employed after school lost their 1 and 2 hour jobs because Labor insisted on a 4 hour minimum shift.

America's health care system is hardly a free market. It is mostly a crony capitalist system. Where the free market is allowed to function they provide some of the best services available anywhere in the world.

    I resemble that remark!

The comments do not deserve rebuttal. I hope you die young so you do not need to live into maturity, it will hurt your little brain.

By that age they've seen the gov stealing and misallocating their taxes for the past 30 odd years.

This gives many a feeling that the world somehow owes them a living during their twilight years. So naturally they'll vote for more of your taxes.

we should do what the eskimos do when you live past your uselessness to the community float them off into the ocean (alive) on iceberg. Ice bergs wont work here but we can adapt maybe a makeshift raft will do.

You might be on to something here. Maybe a bus trip to the Simpson Desert?

    Don't get salty, mate.
There won't ever be a free market in your lifetime.
The Banksters will trash the economies of the world and "free market" will be a dirty word for generations to come.
That's because people will equate the free market with the system that stole their wealth.
    You know it's true.

No true Scotsman would operate a healthcare system like that.

What about those 2nd hand fishing boats Abbott's buying back from the Indonesians? It'll be like the 5 cents recycling can scheme. We send the boats back to Indonesia, they collect the boats, sell it back to us and we send them back again and on and on it goes.
