I think it is quite healthy. Not only is Australia prepared to throw out a party that is not performing, but we also throw out leaders that are not up to scratch. A pox on them all until we like the cut of their jib.

If you look at the world, the commoners are choosing radical politicians to 'reform' - mostly hoping for either a bigger share of the pie, or at least 'a share'. The Labor Party has just put in an extremely left wing leader, just about everywhere countries are choosing right wing nationalists or left wing nationalists.

If Turnbull is to lift my opinion of politics, he'll have to 'turn back' the bombers in Syria that Abbott pushed for his political survival, continue with his 'small l' views and do something about restoring some sort of independence of the economy on 'the big four' banks and export of natural resources, in favour of small business and local manufacturing.

    But I expect not.

If you're waiting for the government to utilise their special knowledge and skills about markets........then I wouldn't be holding my breath. It's not going to happen, no matter who is in power, your desires are doomed.

I think it is unhealthy to the point of toxic, from my limited understanding Abbott only got in because people wanted to get rid of Gillard/Rudd et al and there were no other viable options, we weren't able to leave the position vacant.

And as to having to throw out the leader of the party, how did someone that incompetent get to be the leader? If the leader is the best person for the job, as elected by the other numpties in the party, then how bad are all the others that weren't quite good enough to be the leader?

If they have no confidence in their own party why should anyone else?

I just heard an international TV anchor tell it straight....

I don't think it really matters who's the leader of the country, Australia's economy will be driven by China

how do you not know if Turnbull is an anonymous philanthropist already .
why would anyone with that kind of access to capital, bother with politics ?

or have I answered my own question.
    :)
