Copper? There is a copper round coming? I'd go for that. I think we need to be careful about discussing this coin series, but still, I'm excited to see the new design.
As far as I understand, the copper was struck as a trial just to see how the design would look on a metal round. I don't think a copper version will be sold, though I'd have no complaints about it. Can anyone confirm that this is what some mints do...punch out a few trials on copper in the initial phase? .
1/17/2015 we hope to see samples of the finished copper this week & will announce the series and begin presales. mintages will be consistent for the complete series at 99 gold (1/10 Oz), 500 silver & 2000 copper. approximately half of the silver & gold mintage has already been allocated to wholesale and reservations for our past Lunar Skulls PROOF customers. customers that purchase the first of this series from us at our introductory issue price (in any or all of the 3 metals) have the option to continue the complete series at the issue price for each subsequent release.
Eh, just don't "get" copper. Though I suppose it plays a small role out there when it comes to this stuff.. There is one old numismatic piece I've had my eye on for the longest time, but can't seem to pull the trigger. More of a historical novelty. Anyway, curious to see how SM will conduct the allocation reservations.. Limited-time offer? Based on # of proofs purchased? Max per person? Etc. Will need to see the design/photos, along with price.. But I might be game for 1 or 2.
Yea I just got my email for this coin too... I'm not sure what to do... If had received my lunar skull coin by now I would prob be more apt to buy... But I'm not to keen on looks of this coin... It is interesting that the price is even lower than the skulls coin... Hmmmm I do kinda like the mintage of only 99 on the gold ones.
I got my emails. My initial reaction is disappointment. Guess we have a few days, but I'll probably pass, too. I like the Lunar Skull much better..
Yea I do too but the copper is the most over priced metal content wise lol 20 bucks for an oz of copper... Copper would have to hit like 320 a lb to even be worth it's weight in scrap... That's to much collector value risk to me.
Didn't say I was going to get it.. I'll keep an open mind for the future months (Ag), anyway. Even if that means paying a little extra. I'm not really the target audience, regardless. Just don't do many rounds/medals.
Never seen a skeleton with boobies! Might have to add one to my boobie coin collection. Though I'm a bit concerned about the other depicted appendage?
That was my first though, didn't look right haha I wasn't a big fan of the lunar skull coin to begin with but it grew on my, this coin does nothing unfortunately. Why couldn't they get a governernment affiliation like the the Goat coin?
