If you had been lucky enough to throw a lazy 10 grand into AAPL around the end of the 90's, it would be a cool 3.5 million dollars today. I imagine some people would have done this on a whim, just a fleeting thought, maybe even 20 grand. They are now laughing theyre ass off. The dividend is more like 500% per year on the initial investment too, taking into account stock splits and price rise, lol man to have the crystal ball. Too bad i dont like aapl.
Well i was too young in those days , still in school but the smart money would have put cash into Apple stocks after the 1997 return of Steve Jobs and announcement from Microsoft that they would be buying a large chunk of Apple shares as well as releasing popular MS software like Office and IE on the Mac.
I've been in & out of Tullow since 1999 - and I've used my holding there to topslice over the years when salary income was tight - still holding this and Petrofac in UK If you hit 'All' on the graph scale you'll see it isn't only Apple that's managed stellar sp performance - I've been in since 85p - last lot I bought was at 1396p and she's still making me money http://www.google.co.uk/finance?q=tlw On another thread I just posted about China scooping-up ASX goldies ( http://alturl.com/ooagb ) - the vibe on Tullow used to be that no sane pi would accept less than 20 per share - but the Chinese are stalking oil too, and they could have mine for 30 apiece - which would be in the same league... And yes, I did have a chance to buy Apple in 1995 for $30 a share - I'd just sold a company - kicking myself that I didn't, because throughout my music work I've always used Mac over pc for everything from audio to graphics... The only thing that stopped me was Microsoft became very aggressive around that time - so I didn't because Apple seemed like the lightweight in the scrap... How wrong was I lol?!?!!? http://www.google.co.uk/finance?q=tlw x
