    Has anyone heard this podcast?
It's pretty good - all free to download. Explores human history by focusing on a particular object in the British Museum. Each episode is about 14 mins.
I haven't listened to all of them yet, but I've posted a couple of coin specific ones below.

Gold Coin of Croesus - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00qm8zg
    Head of Alexander - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00sbryz
    Gold Coins of Abd al-Malik - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00sl6jb
    Gold Coin of Kumaragupta I - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00shkn0

In addition to coins, there are episodes centered around gold and silver objects e.g.
    Inca Gold Llama - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00tn9vj
Silver Plate Showing Shapur II - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00shkn2

I recommend starting at the Mummy of Hornedjitef and working your way to the present

    * When I say "Right-click the Download MP3 button and click Save-As to save it offline to your computer/phone etc"
this is after clicking the links in the post. The links aren't the links to the files, but the link to the webpage for that episode.
