    Hay guys and girls, bought these bangles for a walk in the other day.....didnt look at them too closly as i saw 925 stamped in to it
    went to clean them up and found flaking bits....BEWARE

    Unlucky Greg, we all get stung from time to time. This is why I usually only buy British Hallmarked stuff when I'm buying for myself. For me, you just cant top a really good mark.

    One of my gold rings I can trace to the maker, the year it was made, the actual shop it was handmade in AND the man who made it (now deceased unfortunately - his son verified it was his dads work though). All by the hallmark :)

    Hi there, you really can't rule out that it's silver just because it is flaking. Allmetals can do this if processed in a certain way. It could be the result of poor craftsmanship but does not mean that it's not sterling. You can test the alloy with a metal testing kit which uses acids and colour... Or get a jeweler to test it for you. Hallmarking can always be forged ... That's a simple matter and there is not much regulation here. But before you come to any conclusion please have it tested in my opinion.
