Whilst I consider $90 to be unreasonable,

    It begs the questions.....

    If you had a preorder...
How much would you sell your 1oz lunar dragons for (assuming sellout)? What is a reasonable price from a sellers perspective?

There is too much hype surrounding these, I would avoid purchasing them (unless I had a preorder or was going to the Perth meeting) for at least a few weeks to let the prices and hysteria drop a little bit.

Current anticipated price 1/9/11, is expected to be circa $50 from the Perth Mint. I would expect to see product for sale within a few weeks/months for $15-$20 extra. ie $65-$70.

The phrase you're looking for is "tacit collusion".

The banking industry just got whacked with amendments to the Competition and Consumer Act to stop them doing it.

A smart dealer might want to put their own (lower) price in to that spreadsheet

A bit of competition should be encouraged

On that note, a spreadsheet like that for all sorts of bullion would be useful. Bars, other size dragons, cooks etc.

Difficult with spot movements though obviously.

Instead of naming and shaming a better idea is to just name the good dealers.

Everyone is going to remember where they got them and how much they paid that's for sure.
I know which dealers I would deal with next time I was in the market to buy.

Will this be a stalemate between buyers and distributors of coins that are "sold out" and sitting on the selves for spot +130%/40%?

$90 - $100 for a coin that has 300,000 mintage and is freshly minted OR a 12 year old coin with 100,000 mintage for $120-$130.

If you like your dragons, 2000 is the way to go.

Series I is maybe to expensive for people who are new in investing silver.
For them its easier to start with Series II and still affordable.

Defamation Law in Australia has turned into a farce. The problem with it is that a defamation suit can be threatened against anyone and it is usually the threat that gets the results. I would hope if GP was to receive threats for things like this, he would give the poster the opportunity to respond.

In this case the coin shop would not have a leg to stand on in court and if I was the poster and GP gave me the opportunity to respond I would happily hand over all of my details and I would even inform the said shop that it was me that posted it and ask them to attack me directly. It would certainly send the shop broke after the defamation case is thrown out on it's ear (truth/justification defence with supporting public benefit) and they were found guilty of Abuse of Process.

Were charging $50 flat for 1oz silver coins.
Considering this price was finalized a few days ago I think that's quite reasonable?
Customers who got over a 100 will be paying $49

Happy to enter the list as the benchmark pricing.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^

Right there is why these nobs selling at 90 an ounce will go out of business. There is a set rate for them to buy at because it's not like they can call the Perth mint and reorder with each sale because they are sold out. Set the margin and once they are gone move on.

Hi Ossie, I might be blind, but where on your website is the 1oz Dragon pricing? Or is the website not updated yet? Cheers.

    We did and we are.
But buying is limited to existing customers which is why you don't see it on the website.

This dragon release has been nothing but pain in the ass!

I like this approach, rewarding existing customers with first bite at the cherry.

Unfortunately the bite at the cherry is pretty small..

If you are an existing customer and didn't receive an email from on Sunday night (please check your spam box) about the allocation of Silver Dragons I encourage you to email us to inquire..

As many have noticed we have upgraded our website and things haven't been as smooth as we have liked!
