    Hey guys,

How much are the 2009/11 5oz Proof Pandas worth? (w/ box + COA)

Are they really worth the high premium in your opinions for the 10,000 mintage, almost $700 for a 2011 5oz Proof.

    Thanks.

I am hoping to move up into the world of 5oz Pandas... but I can't afford it at the moment.

1oz Pandas are a fairly straightforward conservative investment, good returns very quickly.

5oz Pandas could be a very good speculative investment strategy.

For me it was a choice between Panda gold fractionals or 5oz Silver Pandas... I decided to take my chances on the Panda gold fractionals... but I think the 5oz Pandas could be a big hit in the future too.

agree, as my thinking 5 OZ worse than 1 OZ specilay date or event silver pandas. as it high price and this effect low demand. people prefer purchase 1/10 or 1/4 gold panda rather than 5 oz silver and others prefer 1 oz silver panda as you said "easy to get easy to sell"

I was thinking of getting a some of the 5oz's but when you consider the premium they are priced way to high. And I can't imagine it being easy to sell. So as an investment I'll pass thanks.

Does anyone know the price direct from the mint? Is the retail price at $700 or do Chinese dealers snap these up and sell at a premium?

They retail at around $500+, these are a premium numismatic thing.

I agree with all of the above basically it is cheaper to buy a 1/4oz Gold + 1oz Silver set than it is to buy a 5oz Silver proof with the same mintage.

The 2009 5oz Proof was very tempting for me but I think I will pass @ $800 AU.

I would be down for one (any year) in a group buy if we could arrange reasonable pricing.

    They're so intriguing!

    ;)

    Really???

I'm interested in getting a couple too... but I need to get a few 5oz 2011s to make it worthwhile.

The 2011 is over $800 and only one available. way over priced. I have sent a few emails to see what I can come up with.

It would be good to see prices for the last few years (though I imagine that's easier said than done).

Does anyone know if 2011 saw a significant mintage increase compared to previous years?

Not a big fan of the 2011 design myself, 2009 / 2010 5oz proofs are best prices imo

    2009 Mintage: 10k
    2010 Mintage: 20k

    No idea about 2011.

Can get 2009 and 2010 around $800 give or take and 2008 for $888.

    2005 $1332.00
    2006 $1332.00
    2007 $1070.00
    2008 $999.00
    2009 $933.00
These prices are an example of someone trying to get way more than they are worth. I am trying to see if they will drop the prices. But I doubt it.
As far as the mintage of 2011 5oz I don't think there was. But don't quote me

I haven't hunted for the 5oz Pandas before, but I suppose I can ask around on this end too.

Seems like that guy is selling $100-150 over the market prices. I guess using his price to adjust down by $100 = fair.
