So Ive done a little bit of research and 3 dimensional printers seem to offer limitless potential whether it be scale models, prototypes, jewelry, design, invention, and production. The technology looks very promising for a vast array of industries. Bei.g that its a new technology it seems like an interesting avenue for investment. Your thoughts?

If I buy two does it mean I can print in 6D?

Why buy two? Why not use the first one to print a second one?

I ahve a friend whos a landscape archeitect and they spend thousands od dollars on scale models of projects that use to take months to produce now with a 3d printer you can make silar models in a matter of hours. As for inventors it allows u to create a prototype of anything imiginable which used to require multimillion dollar manufacturing plant. I see it being responsible for massive amounts of technology and new products in the near future. Not sure on the cost but it could be a very viable business doing free lance printing contracts until the technology becomes more common.

But I guess threads about stacking garbage alcohol you cant sell or food for the apocolypse is more relevant to investments and investing then discussing emerging technologies that will create whole new avenues of industry. Considering design can account for 10 percent of a buildings budget it shows there is a lot of money in many of the tasks a 3d printer can either make more efficient or replace.

I'd only be interested apart from home use to invest in companies such as 3D Systems who are continuing to development and improve the technology. Show me an Australian company that's likely to be publicly listed on the ASX that would do the same and I would happily invest in them too :)

I'm expecting them to be regulated in the near future. Buy one now if you've got the money before they become neutered / detuned / track what you've made / have to be registered

I can see potential for small businesses that do short runs of products. As in, if you are working on a large scale, you will be best off getting the parts made using a mould, but if you want say 10 parts that will never be made again, 3D printers seem to be perfect.
