So I have one 4 ducat left and I know it's childish but I like to play with it (I'm trying to get good at coin rippling). I'm pretty careful with it in terms of scratching or dropping it but I'm not sure how safe 22k gold is in terms of tarnishing after coming into contact with skin/handling.

I now pure gold will happily sit in lye or sea water for centuries without a problem but will the 10 odd percent of copper and other metals mean handling will tarnish my coin?

True that. You do see some bronzing but I've never seen a real sov look to bad.

I'm not sure how safe my 22k gold would be in a 22k safe.

I wouldn't worry, if its a restrike its just bullion value and if its an original 4 Ducat its been handled for a hundred years ;)

Yeah but if you want your 5% over spot people like them shiny. Hell, I like it shiny. I'm not really that worried about ruining the numismatic value :)

A dab of HP sauce on a bit of cotton wool makes all gold and silver look brand new.

Real I clean all my coins with HP sauce and have done since I was a kid!
Not sure why so many people are so annul about PM,s & circulated coins with handling them? I can understand proofs or high collector value pieces but whats the point of wearing gloves with a circulated or tarnished coin? Even worse, gloves for coins already in caps?

I bought a few ASE,s for just over spot from an SS member 1990,s and early 2000,s they were really tarnished as the seller said, they now look like new thanks to the good ol HP Sauce. :)
