It is October and this is the usual month that news and information about the next year China Panda bullion coin comes out. Anybody seen any news, announcements, info and pre-release design images yet?
Please post and share any new findings and information you encounter for the 2016 pandas. Happy collecting/stacking.

Their post just reminded me of an ASE watch I had previously stumbled upon at Apmex..

Figured I'd check to see if any Panda ones, and BOOM!

Other types, too.. Including a few for women..

    http://www.apmex.com/search?q=watch

    Cheaper elsewhere? Who knows.

    It is Apmex, after all.

    But yeah, pretty groovy..

I am on the watch out too. I haven't heard or seen anything. Sometime ago some online sellers started taking pre-orders for the 2016 coin. But I'll wait until I see it. I guess we are all wondering what the design will look like. Will the metal type and fineness return to the reverse of the coin? Given that it will be a wee bit lighter (e.g. 30g silver coin) will the diameter change?

Did you see the new design? Wow. Very nice, and it has 30g. and 999. Which means 2015 will be a the year of the conversion. lol. I'm sure it will be a collectible. A one off. Collectible with 8 million mintage...if there is such a thing. LOL. debasing the silver content. 1 oz is 31.3.

Yes it is. Good for the collectors of 1 troz size because they have another set collection completed. Good for newcomers to the Panda coins because they can start a 30 grams collection fresh without having to chase any of the high premium old issues of the troy ounce size.

I assume the 30g is meant to take over as the 1oz "flagship" of the series, but I think 50g makes more sense in the metric system.

I'll be interested in seeing whether the latter are minted in low numbers as collectables with a higher premium, or if they will be sold like the 1-1/20 oz coins.

From the formal announcement link: 50 grams size max mintage is 20,000. 30 grams size max mintage is 600,000.
