Sounds about right, however if they were selling the counterstamps and then selling them to dealers at the RAM get together, you probably won't get to see many of the 1,000,000 in circulation, they will all go straight into collections.

I hope to put a few aside as well.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Just picked myself up a mint roll of these. Will go straight into my collection.
Hopefully they will be worth something in the future.

    Welcome!

They are worth $20 right now!

Hopefully they will be worth a lot more in the future but I have a feeling that pretty much everyone of them available for sale will be uncirculated, certainly not many will be in circulated condition.

I am not a fan of slabbing coins but I think if you want your 20 to stand out from the other 999,980 then maybe grading is the way to go, especially if you have a few nice ones in the roll. Not something I would rush into doing though.

How do you store your rolls, can you get airtite tubes to fit them?

Got mine for a bit more than $20 but I was super keen to get my hands on a roll.
Yeah I agree. I think 90% of them online will be UNC condition. Slabbing a couple might be a good idea. Haven't gone down that route before but it could be an idea.
I have actually never collected a roll before but I am aware there are tubes you can store them in that keep them pretty sealed.

Mine also cost a bit more than $20, I got them from James at the prices above.

I wonder if any will be released at all or whether they will all turn up for sale at Post Offices, I have seen rolls for sale at my local one in the past.

Shame I haven't got a bit more money to throw at a couple more rolls but no point in being greedy.

I have a roll of 10 cent coins and a few smaller rolls but I have yet to find a decent way of storing them, I just have them in a ziplock bag, keeps the air and moisture out but doesn't protect from knocks etc.

Now if we can get the queen to step down before the end of the year that would make these even more valuable

If I had two rolls, I guess I could split one up and get a couple slabbed.

It is a bit of a lottery.

You could always wait and let someone else take the risk, let them send in the coins.

You will pay more for the individual coin but you won't be paying for any that didn't quite make the grade. Plus you kjnow whether you will be getting an MS68, MS69 or MS70 before you send them away.

I am still not sold on the whole idea of slabbing but enough people are making money out of it that it is probably here to stay.

I think the market for sealed rolls is probably a bit smaller than the market for individual coins, but I am not sure if the premiums for a whole roll are worth not splitting them up and selling them individually.

I think I will just chuck them in a draw for a few years and come back to them.

Just a few points to make

    1. these are rolled at the Royal Australian Mint, so you can say they are mint rolls, not security rolls
    2. the mints done a great job all the ones i got are head to tails, which means you see one side head the other side tails

    hope this helps

    Thanks J.G,

Today was the first time I was excited to come home with a pocket full of cupro-nickel without my metal detector.
    Thanks for everything again,

    Cheers,

    Spil.
