    HI Guys,

Does anyone on here know the date that these will be released?

I am looking to get my hands on some if possible.

    Thanks in advance.

    1st of September.

Unless you're in line at the Perth Mint on that day - good luck.

Thanks for the quick posts. I was hoping to be able to snag some from the online store, do I have a chance at that or am I dreaming?

Has the design been released yet?

You do have a very good chance of buying the 2012 Dragon whenever you want after the release - it wont be a problem at all.

The price will be different though.

Limit of 20 x 1oz Silver per customer... so good chance I guess but a ripoff since you can't buy in bulk.

I don't see how you think it is a rip off.

Everyone knows that the mintage is 300,000...that's what makes the average bloke happy.

If most people can't get a huge quantity of coins there will be good demand and the average bloke can make a few dollars or have enough to add to their collection.

Sure...there's many of us that would perhaps like to make a large purchase from the mint but bad luck...that's just the way the market and business is.

If you don't get enough coins...just source from elsewhere or pay more.

    Crikey!

Anyone would think the mint owes you some sort of favour:)

The shipping & handling fees on a mere 20oz of coins is a massive % of the coin's base value/cost.

Especially when you take into consideration the bulk buy (500+oz) discounts.

It is a flapping rip off and don't pretend otherwise.

You're funny. Missing the point completely. The problem is even large dealers only have access to a roll of 20. What? Try going to dealers in Sydney and ask if you can buy some dragons? Nah. Zilch.

Doesn't change the fact that the Perth Mint is a flapping rip off.

Yeah, like the foreigners who will charge us an arm and a leg not to mention wasted shipping to overseas and back. Great work.

And you'd think people would do their research when trying to 'defend' Perth Mint instead of jumping to crappy conclusions.

I'm fully aware of the shipping costs.

I understand your frustration but there's many people like you.

Should you get some kind of preference...you probably think so.

Nothing will change...you know as well as me demand is high and just like the mint, you want to make good dollars.

You know the mintage is low.
You know the demand is high.
You know that silver price is bullish.
You know that large businesses always get looked after before small fish.

    I mean...this isn't rocket science.

Anyway...this is not a personal attack on you...I'm just stating the obvious.

You'll have to pay more and sell for a higher price...if the demand is as high as suspected then you will still make dollars...if you don't that's business.

At the end of the day...it's about stacking or making money.

    End from me.

Perhaps my calculations are incorrect however, say you buy 20oz coins online, at current pricing, wouldn't the postage be circa $17.50 for the first kilogram + 1% insurance if you chose that option, which would equate to an extra circa $1.40 per coin.

If correct, not really a ripoff in my neck of the woods.

Has it been confirmed that the limit for online purchases is 20 coins? I know that the SS meeting on the morning at the PM is limited to 20 coins, and would have thought that online purchases would be less.

That's more expensive than most dealers charge for a roll of 20. But you're right it's not back breaking.

The real sting is the cost of 20 1oz Coins. Currently Koalas are > $48 each for 20 coins.

Can you say with a straight face that's a good price?

Yes. According to one of the posts in the other threads.
