Hi all, new to the site and I love it !!

I just posted this on the silver forum, didnt see this special Panda one. Im NOT real good with this so PLS bear with me.

I bought 5 Pandas off ebay for 50.00 ea 2012, the buyer had 100% positive feedback and over 3000 feedbacks.

I received them last weekend, they look great but....

    1) someone said the 2012's are not even in the states yet ?
    2) they are slightly smaller od than my silver eagles but seem to weigh the same ??
    3) without ruining it how o i know for sure its real ? Any dead give aways to the 2012 fakes ?
    4) it "rings" but I ouldnt say as long or exactlly like my eagles ?

I hope i didnt get ripped but I did go thru ebay and paypal and havent paid the cc bill yet or even received it...can you help ?

Thanks and again great site and knowledge here !

Hi luberhill, welcome to the Panda forum.

The fear/phobia/hype of fake Pandas is worse than the reality.

I would consider a person with over 3000 100% feedbacks to be fairly reliable.

    1. 2012s have been out for a few weeks now (everywhere, all over the world)
    2. Yes, Panda coins are thicker, and as a result have a smaller diameter - yet weigh the same.
    3. Find a dealer that sells Pandas, and compare. Fakes are usually very easy to tell with a side by side comparison.
    4. Don't "ring" your Panda unless you want to remove its numismatic premium. If you are especially paranoid, send it NGC for grading and/or authentication.

Please show some pictures of your purchased pandas. So we can have a look at the coins.

But the Yennus answer is right on the money, especially with answer #3.

I would suggest to buy from online dealers (like Apmex, Panda America & more), then you'll know it's real, and not worrying if it's real or fake.

Your pics look blurry. Try turning on the macro setting on your camera, and using a desklamp.

Fakes usually look pretty crap though.

Around $50 is a normal amount to pay.

Considering your source has +3000 feedbacks, I think you are safe. But get a NGC/PCGS Panda if you want additional confidence.

The only fake 2012 Pandas I've ever seen, the letters "1 oz Ag .999" are either very faint to nearly invisible. Not sure if anyone else have seen any other better made 2012 fake pandas. So to that, your panda passes the test.
