The 9 coin set didn't sell so well in China either. Maybe they are recycling the Chinese sets...

How many 9 or 10 coin sets would you have to buy to find 9 MS70 coins? 200? 300? You would have to pay a grading company grade that many coins, of which you get 9 then to sell.

The remaining coins would be graded 67-69 and dont carry any premium above those randomly sold in a 9 or 10 coin set. So to get your 9 MS70 coins, you have to pay for 200+ to be graded of which all except 9 would be a waste of money being graded.

    Hi all
I have seen the 10 coins sets, they look nice its a pity the perth mint didnt release these sets the same time as the proofs. i think the set would have done alot better last year.

The only concern for the 10 coin set is that the perth mint tried to give us a good deal by including a bullion non coloured 1oz coin in the set to make it 10 coins.

Now im not sure if people know abit about chinese culture, There was a reason why the chinese dealer ask the perthmint to make 9 coloured dragons.

The reason why 9 not 10 is that, the 9 coloured dragons was representing the 9 colored dragon wall in beijing. In Beijing China there is 2 walls with 9 Coloured dragons. This is why we saw the chinese sets have 9 coins instead of 10.

now im not 100% sure what the different coloures of the dragon means, if anyone could explain them, it would be great.

The only colour that I know that means something is he dragon in the middle, which is always yellow. Yellow is emperor's color. There are 9 dragons because 9 is the largest of all digits. And 5 is in the middle of all digits (there is no zeros here), so they make the fifth dragon, the dragon in the middle, the emperial yellow dragon. The one in the middle is also one that faces forward, while the ones on the side, which are always paired fron the center, will either face towards or face away from the dragon in the middle. Although, as far as I can remember, I have never seen 9 colored dragons on a single wall. Becaus they are always yellow in the middle and 4 pairs of dragon on the side. So 5 different colors on one wall maximum.

Oh yeah there are a few of these 9 dragons wall n China. Yes the two of three most famous such walls ar in Beijing. The third one is in Datong. And there are a few more of them by they are not so well known.

^^^ $810 is still pretty expensive IMHO. I know the seller will only clear like $710 after ebay/paypal fees but $810 is quite expensive for 9 coloured coins and a bullion coin. The bullion coin alone is worth say $60 (generously) so you are paying $750 for 9 coloured coins or $83 each.

They were not realistically priced in the first place!

They could have stuck a $200 price tag on them for all that it mattered.

Now they are slightly more realistically priced and it looks good to have a 25% off sale!

^ True, $100 was steep but I guess they held them at that price Sept-April so for 7 months I suppose they were moving stock. Dropping the price suggests stock has become stale (ie buyers drying up).

Give it a few years and every dragon offer the Perth Mint churns out will be sought after and profitable.

Don't think it will even take that long. I remember people getting rabbit fatigue about this time last year and now rabbits are becoming quite sort after. Yeah - I know - PM have produced more dragon products than they did rabbit products but I think you'll find people will be searching for all things dragon in about 12 months. Prices will follow shortly after that.

Keep stacking 'em while you can at this price. All things dragon stops in 4 months (with the possible exception of the 1 kg).
