is it just the panda that is held up - are there other chinese silver 2012 minted and if so, are they released yet? i think it was brother john who suggested that mining companies get jerked around by cheap discounted paper pushers and fiat, and it would make sense for them to withhold their product until it can be sold for fair market value. perhaps china is waiting for an increase in the price of silver? i don't know anything about release dates, etc., but it seems conspicuous that china hadn't released its coins by chinese new years.

The Chinese Mint bought Silver at a much higher price and never hedged their position. They are waiting for Silver to increase so they can release the coins. All companies and Bullion Dealers expected them mid January. Very hopeful they will release them soon.

i looked to see if this delay has "excited" the price for 2011 pandas on ebay, for the short term at least, but it seems things are mostly status quo bit i see one panda was bid up to us$54 (!).

I like my translations better :p

Anyway, the Chinese Bronze Ware Gold and Silver Commemorative Coins should be an interesting series, might start collecting it.

Who knows, it could be the next big thing (TM).

Interesting that the "Gold and Silver Commemorative Coins for the 30th Anniversary of the Issuance of China Panda Gold Coin" is not listed as boring "Pandamonium" coins, I hope they have a totally different panda on it. No 1 oz silver though, only 5oz and 1/4oz...

I believe they'd have a different design just because they aren't classified under the same branch of commemorative pandas (centenary BoC etc).

Perhaps the 1/4oz will be like the 2007 25th Anniversary set but with 30 coins instead...

Going to be a hot item.
