i was serching my local beach a couple of days ago when i found two 2010, "20 cent" coins, each had a different pattern on them, one was the normal type, the other one had the commemoration of the "tax office", i hadn't heard that a commorative coin was being released in 2010, anyone else got one yet. mike.
There are some here who have started collecting a little stash. I wonder if the Tax office will accept their bill paid in Tax Office 20c pieces.
I've started seeing these in circulation in Canberra. It surprised me as I was of the belief they were uncirculated only. Guess not.
Got one in the change today. Does this have the same metal content as the normal 20 cent coin or has the tax office taken a percentage off? It feels a little bit lighter than the usual coins.
Finally found one in change today.!!!!!!!! My daughter found it for me from where she works. mintage of 4 million? Auspost has "special" rolls of $4 worth selling for $14. ( no thanks) Tuned her into looking for the 2001 federation series of 50 & 20 cent coins.
I got one of these last week that had been defaced with a big X scratched into the reverse. This might be a good one to collect if people have a desire to take them out of circulation...
You can buy an uncirc roll from the RA mint. http://mintissue.ramint.gov.au/mintissue/product.asp?code=803424 Edited to add URL
Neat coin but they didn't do much work in designing it....a little slack and didn't know they made coins just to celebrate the taxation office.
I have a stack of them. As an aside, the centenary is a lie. The ATO was created in 1973, and the ATO are unable to provide evidence that it was lawfully created (gazetted, etc.) too.
