They're relatively expensive now. Probably have to pay at least 900 AUD for each (if you can find one)

I am collecting the whole set... what do you guys think about that? Do you think the whole Kilo set will be worth a lot at the end of 2019? ;)

Reckon, you'd be very lucky to get one at 900 bucks.

Bullion Bourse was selling the ox back in mid April 2013 for about $833 and in late March the mouse for $981

Gold stackers were selling the mouse for $830 mid April 2013.

Well any complete set will be worth something to a discerning collector.

So if you can get your kilo coins at close to spot, you stand to gain when the whole set is complete.

If I were you, I'd wait because at any time up until 2019, the Perth Mint can produce unlimited numbers of any year of the bullion kilos. When a rush of these kilos come on the market, the prices tend to drop quite a lot as competition drives prices lower.

Collecting the silver proof kilos is a whole different project. They are much, much scarcer and will not be minted past the max set mintage for the year and never beyond the year of that Lunar animal. As of a day or so ago on eBay, I saw a proof silver kilo horses for a tad above $1,500. At the end of 2019, the premiums that collectors and buyers will be paying for the proof kilos clearly will be far greater than what they would be paying for the bullion kilos which could theoretically be minted into the many tens of thousands.... making them rather common for a bullion coin in the 1 kilo size.

    Bullion Kilo's.........

Not really mm, there's no guarantee the price of silver won't spike above it's all time high and there's also no guarantee Perth won't declare previous years before 2019; sure...perth have said they can strike until the end of 2019 but will they get the orders from overseas to fulfill demand???

    All crystal ball stuff imo.

What you say mate about the proofs is a good idea but...folk have to keep those coins in pristine condition.

I suppose there's a careful balancing act between the price of the proofs and the price of bullion coins and where spot will end in the future.

    One things for sure.

The proofs are a locked mintage.

The sales folk at the perth Mint have got bullion kilo lunar stackers by the balls as has that big bluddy german dealer.

I wonder if Mr. Ron Currie will squeeze our balls or try to maintain some sort of collectability status for the bullion coins.

All the best stacking the proofs mate...that is probably the best move...maybe!!! :D

I have all the series 2 1 KG non color lunar Perth Mints except Tiger. It is too expansive.

I have extra snake if you keen or else buy the whole set excluding tiger. I will sell if the price is good.

Hi great to see some late night owls.

I have just joined today and thought I might let you know I have 2 x Perth Mint 1kg 2000 colored dragons.

1 in the red box and the other in the wood box all in perfect nick with COA's and outer protective boxes from the Mint.

Have stacks of 2000 Perth Mint silver dragons in various weights from 10 oz to 1/2 oz in sets and capsules.

Also stacks of Ag that I have been collecting over the years, a lot of eagle

This my second post and wanting to fully understand forum procedures.

Hoping to do some buying, selling and trading over time.

    Cheers

I have the Dragon now. Would you happen to have a 2008 mouse or a 2009 Ox. Silver kilos?

Not the kg 2008 or 2009 but will keep an eye out for you. I am a series 1 collector. Have some contacts on some series 2 collectors. Will advise if I locate these. Have some full sets of the 2010 Gold Bullion Tigers that are getting pretty scarce. Cheers

I'm interested in obtaining 1 of each of these older ones too if I can get them under $1000. Probably very unlikely though at this point.
