So my 2000 1oz panda finally arrived from China! How do i tell if its fake?

Weighs 31.2 grams diameter 40 mls reeded edge. If it is fake its a bloody good one. :)

Do you have another Panda to compare it to, one that you know is good? How thick is the 2000? If it isn't silver it will be thicker than a real coin in order to have enough weight.

Look at your coin carefully. Does the date look like the coin below? Is it raised off the surface and are each of the numerals the same size and shape as in the photo? Is the circular area along the outside of this coin where the date appears frosted (as this photo) or is it reflective/mirrored like a proof coin?

    Gidday Peter,

The area you mention is mirror finish.

The date is the smaller of the two sizes raised.

The mirror Finnish type 2000 coins are a fav of counterfeiters because of the high prices that this coin commands. Given we don't know the purchase price it's hard to tell.

Unfortunately, that sounds like the fake one but we will need a picture or two to be sure.
