I am not familiar with Littleton or their holders so I don't know if this is a good sign or a bad one of the coin's quality or value. After only seeing these pictures, what would be a reasonable price to pay for this? Source:http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2rz6ird&s=6 Source:http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=24brpnb&s=6
one went off on ebay last night for 400 in a littleton holder IMHO that is crazy high number ,that being said I have graded 2 fractional panda,s from littleton holders both came back ms69 ,what that means ?????? probably nothing
I bought a silver 2000 frosted in a Littleton coin holder a while back and had to return it , it was described as "beautiful perfect" coin with bad pictures and was in bad condition probably ms66 or less. It is probably hit or miss I dont think the holder has any relevance other than it has been removed from OMP.
Thor is absolutly right it probably will come back details graded or rim damage, if it grades at all 65-66 at best IMHO they are getting crazy money for OMP BE CAREFUL 230860351316 380478461277 2 recent e bay sales I just paid 425 for a ms69 ngc/ncs 2000 frosted which IMHO is no earth shattering great price, but I needed the coin for my collection and it sure dont look like fractional bears are getting less expensive
I pay near 499 shipped for a ncs/ngc 2000 1/10 in ms69 And i think is a good investment. Gold 1/10Spot=200 coin in ms69 400/550 Silver 1 oz frosted spot = 40 coin in ms69 350/450
Now for the rest of the story... I asked pre-sale if coin had any marks, dings or rubs. Seller sends pics with "dust is not on the coin". What looked like dust is a mark of some kind. :/ Sorry, these small ones are hard to get clear pictures on. What will it grade & what is it worth?
I am not sure, is there a way to tell the difference. The mark does not extend to the inside raised edge of the ring, it is confined to the lower face. It looks evenly distributed across the length of it, no noticeable high or low. I can not tell that there are drag markings in it. I am guessing an impression.
I would conserve the coin or at the very least , it could be residue or pvc damage from the OMP packaging being gold you could buy yourself some 100% pure acetone and soak the coin ,dont worry it is harmless to a gold coin, google the process ,just google acetone dip coins. it will remove some forms of residue .if it is an impression from the minting process , it also looks like you have a copper spot below the panda leg ,the coin probably needs conservation ,it could grade as high as ms68 but im thinking ms67 (disclaimer,i dont know what the heck Im talking about when it comes to what NGC will do) value as is ???? 250/275????? I think it is a coin worth investing conservation fees in .......
I'm thinking I'll send it back to the seller, there are better places for my money to be working than on this sad little bear. Thanks to all for your input.
