hi, i'm coming into possession of about 100 x 1937 crowns. all uncirculated. i'm looking for anyone that might be willing to purchase them in bulk (the whole lot) for more than $35 each. what is the best place to find out what kind of offers i can get? i know in book value terms they're much higher but from what i've seen on the street value it seems to vary from $45+. any info appreciated. thanks. please forgive me if i've posted this in the wrong place. just let me know where would be more appropriate and i'll rectify.

With no feedback and being new with such a large set of items for offer you're going to make people suspicious. Chances are people are going to ask for you to send the items first and then pay you. This is fairly standard as long as the person you're sending to has good feedback.

Everyone knows I'm a nut for crowns and if they are as you say I'd be interested but I would not be sending a new forum member that kind of money under any circumstances unless I had the coins first or possibly met face to face.

It's really nothing personal at all, but trust here is earned over time since trading here wouldn't otherwise work. I think if you genuinely have these items for sale you'll find it a fairly straightforward experience. If you are interested in bullion and numismatics I'm sure you'll get lots out of the forum beyond a sale too, just like I have.

Do you have pictures? Where are you located? Do you have any 1938?

Guys, thanks so much for your feedback! I really appreciate. I'll get a solid understanding first of whether they're authentic and then continue with this discussion ... Thanks again!

100 uncirculated 1937 crowns sounds like a score. I'd be knocking on some dealers doors if I had them. :)

Possibly. I'd get a professional grading first in the hopes of getting a choice uncirculated or gem coin and then get those slabbed. Normal uncirculated prices are a little soft at the moment.

A pcgs or ngc grading is going to cost in excess of $50 a coin by the time you pay for shipping even if you were doing this nah at once. If they are genuinely never circulated gem condition then it might be worth it but otherwise it's a lot of money for a 37 if you're hoping to significantly improve the value. Particularly as many Australian collectors don't necessarily expect grading on silver coins (some even prefer ungraded). If they were '38's I think the choice would be more obvious though.

Professional above meaning someone locally who knows their stuff like a LCS. :D

As long as coins are stored correctly I don't see a slab as necessary, but a slab can offer additional protection from the elements, bumps and bruises.

Slab will help with selling them.

Particularly if you have no feedback and everyone assumes that they could be fake.

    hey, me again.

i have a few questions if anyone is able to answer ...

does anyone know what a fake would generally weight? or do all fakes have a specific weight? more or less than .925 silver?

    also ...

if a seller is unwilling to meet in person, on grounds that they have been robbed before or had bad experience, then is there any other way that a transaction can occur so that no foul play occurs?

i was wondering about whether there is such a thing ... some kind of bank transfer where the money is deposited into the sellers account but frozen for a period of time and only available to the seller after the period is over and provided no reclamations are made. if that existed then that would be a solution right?

what about ebay as an insurer? if items are purchased via ebay are they not guaranteed? that's what it seems to indicate here, and it doesn't seem to exclude collectables does it? seems that it must be paid via paypal though. http://pages2.ebay.com.au/eBay_Money_Back_Guarantee

well, if anyone has any ideas? i don't know if anyone has any experiences to share that could help.

    thanks,
    m
