Sellers response to my message. "I definateley am not trying to scam anyone,I only happened on a tin of coins at a garage sale and this was in with them I only paid $10.00 for the lot and already made over $160.00 so I didn't really care how much this coin is worth, anyhow I've withdrawn the sale and will just keep it in the drawer,"
The end result is fantastic. Thanks to everyone who participated. Another win for silver stackers. I'm off to see if the seller will take 10 cents for the fake. ....I need to lookit.
Not sure what you mean, original listing was apparently removed. Refer previous page for how to report item / seller.
seller relisted it, under another BS story. http://www.ebay.com/itm/281019621124?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:VRI&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2661 Cant stop the thief's.
I encourage every one to report item AND seller, explain that he has relisted this after being asked to remove it. No time to explain how to report seller, will add procedure later if needed.
Will let matters take control. Just did a bid for $2000 Who says I need to reply to emails.... Took a while to remember my eBay login.
Just got an email from eBay......... Listing removed. Power to the people. And saved me the hassle of not paying $2000 for a dodgy listing.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AUSTRALI...321025967661?pt=AU_Coins2&hash=item4abea3862d Another fake.. 25k!?
Half his coins are fake, the 37 "proof crown" sold for $150, defs fake, the mirror finish 34-35 florin he sold for $400 was 100% fake, and look at the 3, it's dropped.
I'd strongly recommend getting a more up to date reference, counterfeiting technology has greatly advanced over the past 2 decades. Every 1930 copy of Chinese origins I've seen has been produced from fresh counterfeit, dies. The same is true 1923 half pennies and some 1922/21 threepence and Melbourne Centenary florins. Some of these are very precise (this isn't), the key to identifying these currently is that they have a relatively shallow strike, this is often masked by artificially wearing the coin. Look at how rough the beads are on the reverse, that's not consistent with any date. Look at the flat reverse rim, if it were a little thicker it would be like a Sydney mint strike, but the obverse should be similar. Look how flat the pearls are, they're complete yet so rough and shallow.
I had another look at it after you had said the 3 had dropped. Sure enough you can see how there is a greater distance top of the 3 to the centre denticles when comparing it to the 19 which appears slightly closer to the centre denticles. I had a look at some of his others. He has a 1911 halfpenny (Starting Bid) $22k. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AUSTRALI...321025284800?pt=AU_Coins2&hash=item4abe991ac0 Fake or Real?? Cheers markcoinoz
