    One for the collection.
Not in the best condition, but they don't appear that often, so i bought it.
    Think it's a type 1/3

I'm considering giving this the usual soak overnight in washing up liquid/water 1:1 .

Given what it is, is this a wise decision or not?

Once soaked I just rub the coin between two fingers under a warm tap.
Gets the grease etc off nicely, with no abrasive action other than my fingerprint.

I heard that some coins are worth more if you don't clean them though , so should I or shouldn't I?

    Opinions greatly appreciated.
Don't want to ruin such a special coin.

    Grade / values anyone?

    Cheers

    S.

Would acetone take that dark edge off the top left hand side possibly? only a quick 10 second dip mind.

No need, it's just 150 years of "Crud".
Given it the washing up liquid treatment and it looks like a different coin :)

Will post some pics tomorrow, when I can get access to mates camera.

    Cheers for the suggestion though..

    Nice 1

That looks amazing, may try that in my 1899 sov which looks a bit sorry for itself.
