Was wondering the worth of a 1852 Adelaide Pound Type 2?

It is in reasonable condition - but has had a gold loop attached to wear as a pendant.

I am not sure what I should be looking for to understand value??

    I may sell it!!

I would say grading could be a VG to aF but need to see obverse and reverse of coin in better detail.

As long as the mounting can be removed without significant damage, I would expect could be worth up to $5-$6,000. If I was to lodge at auction, I would set a reserve around $4000 and go from there.

If you can show provenance of the coin as jewelry, it could be worth more as is.

Personally, I would leave coin mounted and consult an ANDA dealer and an estate jeweler for valuations.
