Just wondering what's everyone's take on coins bigger than the standard 1 oz?
I mostly have 1 oz and now starting to consider the bigger ones for their semi-numismatic value and lower price

10oz - be it bars or coins from a well recognised manufacturer (eg Perth Mint, ABC, PAMP) are pretty easy to liquidate if you need to. 1Kg also move reasonably well, but have a little less appeal.

Reason for this is simple enough - some folks buying don't always have the budget to plonk down for a 1Kg unit.

Of course, as you increase in size, your premium (both buying and selling) reduces. So, if you're after stacking as many ounces of silver as possible for your dollars, then larger items will deliver in terms of absolute cost per ounce purchased.

I personally hold a small amount in 1oz pieces, mainly as "insurance" on having to "make change" or trade for smaller things, but the bulk of my stack is 10oz pieces or larger.

I have some 1 oz and about 20 oz of the halves. What do you consider a good amount of 1 oz coins? Is 100 oz or 200 oz a good amount for emergency bartering coins before I start going for bigger bullions?

Ditto, I really like bigger coins. I have several kilos....my newest is a stunning 2013 Aztec Calendar proof-like. As for blobs (non-denom bullion bars) or rounds, doesn't matter the size, just so long as the premium is very, very low.

ha, the Perth Mint 1kg bars are sooo boring that it really makes you to buy the 1kg coins. ;)
    I usually get a 1oz and 1kg coin.

Awesome! :) How much have you paid for Aztec calendar?

I would like to get Russian Winter 2011 and 2012. But both are 0.925, and price is.... well price is very expensive. :)

Love the 2oz and 5oz coins.
Nice size to hold in the hand and show friends.
The 10z coins are good for stacking but the kilo coins are best as door stoppers.

I prefer 1kg bars rather than coins. Coins take up too much space in storage. More space = more $ on storage.
