Prices are ridiculous. Never imagined they'd reach these levels. Beyond belief that they've actually debuted at them...
It is rather funny to read about a limited mintage of 1 000 000 coins of silver Krugerrands. Think they will fire soon someone in South African Mint marketing department. The proof fractional gold coins are very pricey too ((( Of couse maybe I'm just not so rich as need to be ((((
USA bullion dealer announced that they would begin to sell 50th anniversary silver Krugerrands on the 13th Of March 2017. Still didn't find info on the price.... They also made a nice promo ad for this event! But is shows the production of Gold Krugerrands....
Just look on ebay, plenty of them for sale now. MCM is slow to release them. What boggles my mind is how much money they're selling for, seeing how alot of them are graded SP70 and the coin itself is BU with 1 million mintage.
I have the same questions.... PS Maybe when they will release big quantities of them in USA the price would be more reasonable
Holy sh**. Sorry. Just checked the sold prices on ebay for graded Krugerrand silver. Over 300 USD for a coin with 1,000,000 mintage. That's insane. And I think there is no experience with the South African mint if their "new" .999 silver coins get milk spots. Keen to see how much MCM wants for their coins.
Although they definitely stated a 1 million mintage for the *P*Us, now I keep seeing a revised mintage of 500k, which is still so high paying way over spot seems like a pure collector play. I am not convinced the mintage will actually be 500k. This is fun to watch unfold regardless.
I see they are now available https://www.moderncoinmart.com/silver-krugerrand/ price is a bit steep for a BU coin with this mintage, postage is almost $40
Definitely! Will be very interesting to see to whom they would sell that 1 million coins))) On the other hand it seems MCM has a sell out of silver bullion Krugerrands...
I am having at least as much fun scoffing at the gouging prices as I would of had picking some of these up for a reasonable price, and I didn't even have to pay out for the entertainment
Price is just stupid. I hope this program fails for them and anyone else that produces a 500k or million mintage bullion anything and tries to sell it for such a premium.
agreed BB. They will come down in price over time. unless of course spot rises to 54.00 an ounce. But ain't touching those with a 10 foot pole. Hype, delays, etc...intentional? Who knows, but I've been around long enough to know, just wait it out for a year or two, and these things will come down to normal levels. 1 million mintage? No question.
If the multiple cold calls and emails from MCM/Govmint is any indication, it won't be long before prices come down to somewhat reasonable levels. I don't think their hype train has nearly as many passengers as they hoped/expected.
absolutely correct badhop. that is some serious polish on thems coins. Lol. My bet? Spots will indeed show, and they'll be worth a regular bullion coin with a .79 premium.
