Borrow and spend like drunken sailers. Waiting for the usual idiots to claim it's all Labor's fault.

The way this "debt ceiling" system works and still to call it debt ceiling, only proves politician must assume people are stupid.

That's about $20,000 for each Australian.

My new immigration policy is that each applicant must pay $100,000 for residential status.

5 million immigrants will fix our problem!

Compared to the $56,000 (US $) for each American x population 323,000,000....................Our debt is AU$20,000 :) which equals to just over $15,000 US population x 24,300,000
Compared to the $13,500 (US $) for each New Zealander x population 4,470,000

How bader shape are we really in?

It seems they'd be right in that assumption (silver stackers excluded of course).

Non-resident holders of residential realestate should also pay a substantial annual levy.

    WHY?
If you impart a levy all that will do is add money to the government coffers at the cost of the poor citizen that is most likely renting that residence.
If they are not resident and own properties then id say there is a high chance they are renting it out and they will just pass on any levy by increasing rent.
    Yes/no?

Internet forum dickheads should be taxed twice as much to pay for the added psychological care amongst the general non-dickhead population.

    Lighten up butthead.

    Born in Australia.
    Also have NZ citizenship.
Have a Cyprus EU identity card, though I've never been there.
My parents travelled on UK passports so I have UK patriality.

    I reckon I owe $200,000.

NZ is definitely worth a look at the moment I think.

For my line of work particularly the nanny state trend in Australia is deeply concerning. NZ has more libertarian laws, better foreign policy, better economic management so there are a number of reasons I am attracted beyond the bug out factor.
