Oh, wow, I had no idea they were $40.00. Yeah, I'll take a pass too. Lol. Should be priced about the same as a 30g Panda or a 1 oz Lunar Rooster (max)!
Very expensive for the mintage. We were originally told the mintage was 500,000 and more than $25 for that is pushing it. At a million, that's unsustainable. What stacker is going to pay over 20k for a monster box of 500?
I guess we can't blame them for trying LOL It won't be the first or last time mints/dealers test the waters with crazy premiums up front, especially when they see that there is a lot of interest and excitement built up, but I for one am very confident I will be able to get the ones we want at a price that isn't too outrageous if I can maintain patience. As a stacker collector and flipper I am really looking forward to them, I may even go after a platinum one at some point, I just wish they had done those in fractional sizes. South Africa is world famous for their platinum output, I'm amazed they haven't done a platinum Krugerrand before now!
If you had to move 1 million ounces at 2.5x spot, what would you say?? I've read that apparently Apmex will also be getting some in January.
Just curious, when they said mintage of 1 million, does it refer to max mintage possible? I highly doubt all 1 million will be fully sold.
How many times now have we seen "dealer exclusives" end up with all the other dealers after the "exclusivity" shelf life expires LOL
Bummer on the BU pricing, and the dealer being MCM as these will be cherry-picked to death and thousands will find themselves entombed in plastic with 'grades' by the TPGers. Anyone seen pricing on the proof versions?
I do know the GM at MCM. And I'll be able to get this stuff at a steep discount for those interested. Let's see what the prices are, and then for those who would like to buy, we can do a group buy. And hopefully he'll be kind enough to just ship direct fromt their facility. Anyway, just food for thought.
Yeah, I would stay away from buying the ungraded ones from MCM. Best would be to try group buying from the mint direct to get good coins.
Looks even better than I expected, did you order direct from SA Mint, or if not, please reveal your source.
Hmm, guess that's from the secondary market? Wonder if it's still possible to order direct from the mint.
Message from MCM today " ..we have been notified by the South African (SA) Mint of a production delay".
On one of the german dealers site is says ISSUE DELIVERED - THROUGH QUALITY PROBLEMS RECALL AND DELIVERY STOP BY SOUTH AFRICAN MINT - REPRODUCTION IN THE MINT
We have the Govmint holiday brochure as well, it was apparently printed/published before the SA mint delayed and recalled the anniv krugerrands, so it incorrectly shows the coins as available because it was a December publication meant to be mailed out right as the anniv krugerrands went on sale I'm guessing. @ $40 each I can find SOOOO MANY other coins I'd want to pick up for around that price or cheaper. Patience is indeed a virtue, and I plan to exercise it with EXTREME PREJUDICE when it comes to these anniv krugerrands.
