Hi there everyone, I'm new to the site. I just inherited a 96.80 oz Geomin stamped silver bar, number B305, Silver 999.9F. Am I right in assuming this bar has value over the spot price for silver? I was offered $20.60 from an online inquiry from a buying company, but the spot price is $22.22. Should I look to sell it on ebay? Advice appreciated. Thank you
Did you weigh it? Stamped weights are irrelevant even on new bars and especially old ones. Then convert to troy ounces then give it to me. Not necessarily in that order. Post a pic.
Even those big bars of gold at reserves don't have an exact weight. Every time a bar is tested physically it can lose weight but poors are difficult to get exact. Google the weight like "10 grams to troy ounces". They are a unit of measure but not a US/UK once.
Hi there, The bar weighs 3014 gms on the electronic scales in the kitchen. When I google troy ounces it comes to 96t oz 18.047dwt, but not sure what that means. I tried to upload a photo but got the message "You do not have permission to use the upload feature. Please direct any inquiries to the forum administrator."
You have 96.9 troy ounces. That should fetch about $2150 or there-abouts. Given age and depending on other factors you might get a preimium here if you can upload it to another file/image sharing site and use the a link to the image. But since you have low trade history you will probably want to meet face 2 face, or send first and receive payment on arrival.
Thanks for the advice. There isn't a big price difference in selling it as a Geomin bar and just selling it by weight, which is what I was trying to determine. And sounds like it will be much easier to sell as weight. Thank you for your help!
If you're in Melbourne take it to Goldstackers in the CBD. They would probably then auction it off on here. I'd hate to see an old Geomin melted down.
Is anyone here interested in buying the silver bar I mentioned above? It is a 96.80 oz Geomin stamped silver bar, number B305, Silver 999.9F. I was offered $20.60 from an online inquiry from a Sydney silver trading company, when the spot price was $22.22. Looking to sell in the next week or two. Thanks.
