    Hi,

just wondering has anybody else had their gold bullion melted into jewellery. Specifically i'd like to get 4 or 5 oz melted into an 18k gold chain. Can anybody point me in the right direction, has one of you had this done before?

Just looking at what is happening in india, and i believe confiscation is potentially a real issue, i think this would be one way to prevent it.

Chain makers will charge you about $8-$10 a gram for the work
    Why bother

The markup on gold chains simply isnt that much. Well where i buy them it isnt, if you walk straight into wallace bishop it might be, might be alot more than that even.

yes i want it to look like a jeweller bought chain, i actually saw a guy walking around who obviously made his own and it literally looked like a thick chain you would use to tie a trailer to your car painted gold looked terrible.

You can even get it locally from dealers, pretty sure that ABC sells 22k chain, and I know GoldStackers does 18k.

In my experience as someone who's prospected through the Western US I've found that you can get chains and rings at almost near or at spot prices if you go to them small (population 300) town antique or jewelry shops. Here in San Francisco you'll be lucky to find a chain under 200% markup on the spot price.
