Firstly long glass rods, known as murrine, are handmade, cured and then cut into discs. After that the individual multi-coloured glass discs are placed into a mould, heated gently and slowly melted. Thus, unique Patterns emerge, of which no two are alike. The finished artwork explains without words why Millefiori means thousand flowers in Italian.
Nice one! Thanks for sharing! I think this coin is going to be very much appreciated in the near future. Alex.
that coin is freakin magical... if the back wasnt so ugly and the coin was under $200. i would get one
yes the back is ugly, but for 99 , it is a good price. Now a couple of dealers all raised their price to 119(Invercoin)-139.95 (powercoin)
Hi guys, When I saw this in Berlin... I admit I didn't understand it. Really intrigued to read your comments on it here! I suppose, I can't get everything right!
Should have this up later along with another Murano glass coin from a different producer. With the RCM using them as well, it seems Murano is getting popular.
Article up now. The Numiscom coin is quite interesting. http://agaunews.com/murano-glass-features-in-two-new-premium-european-produced-coins/
I still think this coin is awesome. Wish it was cheaper
Not sure how cheap do you want it to be? This coin latest sold for only US$97. http://www.ebay.com/sch/Coins-Paper...FIORI+GLASS+ART&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc The issue price is somewhere around US$126 or higher. and the coin was an instant sale out. Yet it did so poor on the secondary market. It is sad for such a beautiful coin. On the other hand, ugly coins like the skull, the Niue moon .... are all so hot, with so many buyers chasing after, an insane market
These Murrine Millefiori Glass Coins are quite striking in hand. I just received the 2016 and I have to say it is truly an impressive work of art wrapped in a coin. Like a lot of coins the pictures just don't do it justice.
