The Nanjing mint is waiting for instructions, so tell me your opinion ASAP: What should the weight be for a Nanjing 2016 gold panda? Re: Want a Nanjing 2016 gold panda? What should the weight, price, and mintage be?
3 grams is slightly smaller than 1/10 oz. I think the Nanjing mint's objective is to beat the substandard weights of the main series of debased fiat pandas. That would make the 1/10 oz size preferable. If people want it to mirror the metric weigths of the tmain series of fiat pandas, that can be done. Either way, I'm hoping the price will be as close to bullion value as possible. Nanjing has been very good about their willingness to produce low-mintage coins. The other 3 mints will refuse to make them if they don't get high prices for each coin.
Here is a mockup of all the sizes of gold Nanjing pandas, to scale: Re: Want a Nanjing 2016 gold panda? What should the weight, price, and mintage be? Is there a way to attach images to posts?
