It already seems to be going that way with these networked till systems. Hopefully it will remain a choice of the proprietor. I don't want to see this dystopian scenario come to pass.
"Nah, OC still checks under his bed every night for commies tongue" Usually find a couple there, hiding from their beloved "komrades" holding a knife. Had bill, juLIAR and kevin one night, made a hell of a racket. Blood everywhere! OC
I've been making a conscious effort recently to only pay with cash whenever possible. At the supermarket some of the younger register girls look a bit miffed that I don't swipe and save them the hassle of getting change. Small city convenience stores are the opposite and always seem to appreciate cash, especially if I have coins.
I took the wife out to dinner tonite and when the bill came the waitress asked if I had a card. I said half jokingly - Nah, I'm a cash kinda guy. She replies half jokingly - Your old fashioned. I laughed it off but then I was a bit reflective. Yeh, I'm 40 odd but im not that old fashioned dammit! Well not yet anyways!!
I'm packing my own food, grown in my own garden and paying you $0.00; in fact you won't see a cent of my non-payment become your taxable income. Nor will you have the chance of poisoning me with your grown-with-garbage food. How's that for old-fashioned, waitress? Sorry, got carried away there.
One very intrusive, and somewhat costly for retailers who want to trade, is being forced into the barcoding system, which automatically instills a third party, via an electronic accounting system ! very big brotherish.
I worry about it too because I am keen coin shooter (and other) knowing that less and less is being dropped for me for tomorrow But saying that I found 1c/2c/5c/$1/$2 all in the same hole this morning, they must have been together for at least 20 yrs (?) I reckon. Hey Space Pete - how is it out there in space
Went to Baskin & Robbins in Sydney near the Opera house a while back and it had big CASH ONLY signs on the counter. Rent there must be a killer, cash has it's advantages
