Source: AgAuNEWS.com Well worth the wait I think. Lots of pictures of the design process up on the article as well. http://agaunews.com/world-exclusive-hit-legends-asgard-back-valkyrie/
It gives great insight into all that goes into something like this and why it takes times to get a quality result. Quite an undertaking for just one coin.
Yes, great article as always! Thanks also for opening a separate topic. It was about time. It was getting too "unreadable" to have everything under Odin.
This coin shouldn't be without this music.
So I just checked YouTube and i see there's already a few long time stackers who have videos posted highlighting the new and very cool Valkyrie coin. All the stackers seem to reference or show clips of this video: I then checked the website of First Coin Co and found their sale page for the coin here: https://firstcoincompany.com/S/toke...0-antique-finish-2016-max-relief-minting-3-oz I like this coin even better than the Odin. I'm ordering mine today from First Coin Co since I get free shipping and quick service there. .
Some extra cool detail from the new Valkyrie coin: And a higher rez of the full face (which is actually the reverse side of the coin)....in my view, the detail in the wings totally rock!: The obverse: Detail of the individualized serial number: And who doesn't like a freebie from First Coin Co! .
I'm sure the price would be notably higher if the mintage was only 500. I had some eBay sales go good and I have some money to spend on a Valkyrie! If you think about it, it's a good pre-sale price on the First Coin Co (FCC) website for the quality of this 3 ounces Max High Relief coin.....individually serialized. I think most would agmee that the quality of the design exceeds the Odin.... great team you put together for this coin db23 ! I noticed also that the Odin (first issue) price is up 40% and after the Valkyrie pre-sale is done (1 - 2 weeks....because I see it ships this month), I'm certain the Valkyrie price will go up too. That's the main reason I'm ordering on pre-sale from FCC.....saves me money! I like saving money and I'll have the coin in hand much sooner than I had the Odin in hand. .
Hey missing. Yeah man, I agree. It would be a lot more. Just having fun. As you know, I like the low mintage stuff on a popular coin or medal. LOL. But 1500 is a low mintage, especially if they produce some decent stuff. I'm glad to see that they've decided to move in groups of 3 (I believe it is 4 sets of 3 characters). Very smart indeed. This way if someone wants just the one set, they can collect one, and if all 4, then all four, but someone doesn't need to feel compelled to get all 12 to feel 'complete.' kudos to them listening to us - I think they did. LOL. But I have to say that they did a good job with the Valkyrie. Kudos.
Good point Barsenault, I wasn't even thinking about the benefit of the smaller set for some collectors. Also, I think that vocal collectors like those who have been very chatty in forums like this for the past couple/few years about our love of high relief Chinese medals and coins may have played some role in some mints designing and producing the high relief products we are seeing more of today than when I first got into stacking and collecting coming up on 4 years in the Fall. Most modern flat discs (the average modern coin and round) are so unappealing to me after having a high relief coin in my hand. .
More videos: I'm not sure if I like the face completely, but I think I will order some anyway.
For anyone that would like to get a look at Valkyrie before they begin shipping, there will be a sample on display at the ANA World's Fair of Money in Anaheim California this week at booth #683.
