http://www.jmbullion.com/2016-30-g-chinese-silver-panda/ Why is the premium so high? Should I add this to my first purchase? And is this a good buy? I <3 reptiles: http://www.jmbullion.com/2016-new-zealand-silver-niue-hawksbill-turtle/ Thanks!
I think it has to do with wholesale prices on the new silver Pandas. I used to be able to get current year Panda's for roughly $6 to $7 over melt. Nowadays the new ones go for $10 or more over melt. I refuse to pay that much. I can get back years cheaper from a couple of my local guys that sell to me wholesale on foreign items they buy over the counter and want to flip. I picked up a dozen or so mix of 2013 and 2015 coins this week for $23 per coin and I was happy with that. They sell the brand new ones in the display case for $27+ because they had to buy them from their wholesale supplier who has jacked up the premiums, presumably because the Chinese have upped the premium when they sell to the national wholesalers, etc. As we say here in the US "$hit rolls downhill". And we are at the bottom of the hill as retail buyers. Just my opinion. Jim
Of the two choices, the Pandas are best for buying a large built in loss and the Turtles are best for a more pure silver investment. With milkspotting and fraud, can the Pandas get any more desirable? If you are determined to buy Pandas, Provident is much cheaper.
I bought my pandas for 20.00. So I'm happy, but not selling. ) Maybe I'll be able to buy for 20.00 again, when spot gets to the dccpa $10.00 number. )
