Gold coloured implies gold plated. There are plenty of gold plated coins being flogged on Ebay. I guess the term 'gold coloured' just plays on ignorance. Related strategy seen on Ebay.
I don't think the general public thinks of "gold coins" as actual gold, more like the $1 and $2 "gold coins" which people know are just base metals.
Awareness that so called "gold coins" are made of base metals is a good start to identifying real gold.
+1 Gold is just the colour they look. I wonder if they are using blanks from another currency. I am sure our war veterans are very honoured for the Mint and Courier Mail to be selling a 25 cent coin that can't be spent for only $3. It's what they would have wanted.
Yes I heard on the Radio they sourced these blanks from somewhere in Europe, can't remember where though.
Except my 26 year old Tassie mate. All along he thought they were pure gold, even after I told him how much an ounce of the good stuff costs
Checked with my local newsagent and he's just received all the advert "blurb" for this offer. It will come out with the Herald Sun same dates. Seems an OK cost, and an album as well .. I'm in. EDIT: oh, and these coins all come on cards. Album and set are named ANZAC to Afghanistan

The code is LEGEND After your purchase, they will send you an email requesting your subscription detail via email, as a lot of people (like me) try to buy it but haven't got the subscription
Hard to find now, but I bought 2 sets of coins which include todays 25c through to next weeks two 25c coins. I only need the last 6 coins to complete each set which I should get from my supplier next weekend.
The 'quarter' isn't the thing that annoys me the most regarding this set, it's that the cover of the folder says 'military moments which shaped our country'. It should be 'military moments that shaped our country'. I should be surprised that a newspaper could get that wrong but sadly I'm not.
