I got a couple SilverTowne 10 oz bars, and two 1/4oz Britannia'a that are stamped as Gairsoppa silver. They are awesome. Small, but cool all the same.
Good pick up, those 1/4 Britannia SS Gairsoppa's are from the wreck of the merchant ship that got shot by the German Uboat in WWII, cool stuff. I have 10 rolls of them, got a good deal on them .
I use Numista to quickly look up the silver content of coins, good website http://en.numista.com/catalogue/index.php e.g. http://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces14232.html
I got 3 x Sterling silver bowls for $50 from an auction in Ballarat. Pretty pleased with the score. Checked the hallmarks and got a little bonus providence. About 2 oz in melt and who knows how much antique premium. Pretty pleased for an auction noob. My missus bought an Art Deco bronze for the low side estimate. She's turning into a power stacker and auction whiz-kid.
I must be a boring stacker. I watch prices and exchange rates go up and down like a toilet seat and all the discussion and always conclude that my strategy of buying a set amount each week is the best i can do. So today I bought the same as I did last Tuesday (pay day) and will probably do net Tuesday. Wheb I look back over the time I've been doing it, I'm glad I did.
Man what I wouldn't do for 10 rolls of them! Those things are cool!!! I ordered a Perth Mint 10 oz today and a couple of fractional(s).
Added to my foreign olympic silver stash. Got some 1992 100 francs olympic silver coins from france for cheap. Neat coins that are .900. Also got a few different small 1980 Chinese olympic coins for cheap also. The Chinese coins were in capsules but no box or COA's. I have the one in the photo and a few different ones. Gonna have to stash all these till ready to sell on ebay since the local dealers don't pay crap for them. https://24carat.co.uk/frame.php?url=1992franceolympicgamesalbertville.html http://www.apmex.com/product/80714/1980-china-silver-30-yuan-olympics-equestrian-pf-67-ngc Jim
LOL Thank you for admitting that. I buy my silver once a month, last batch was 25 ounces of Canadian Maple leafs that provident metals had on sale. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that buys on a schedule. April is coming, time to start looking for sales again.
So I got paid today and even though I've blown a hole in my pocket I don't regret it.....I just hope I don't come across anymore good deals before next payday! looking forward to my newly acquired jm silver
