I like my coins oh-natural. no artificial colour enhancements, but in light of this technicality i must now alter my above post to "excluding artificially toned coloured coins" - these are unconditionally better than a standard un-toned coin - the cost of someone doing something artifically to the coin ruins its chance of forming a beautiful natural patina!

Coloured coins are like putting tomato sauce on roast lamb.

Sometimes "naff" is "cool" I suppose?

One other poster once referred to them as "...coins with crap on them." I couldn't agree more. Coins with paint jobs, decals, dopey little glass chips, pieces of meteorites or The True Cross, smears of leopard DNA, hyena butter, snake shit or whatever... They're all still just coins with crap on them and they're just another commercial play to separate people from their money--in return for something that they'll likely never be able to get their investment back out of.

The only color coins I like to keep are those gilded and antique finished (if Antique finished is considered as colored coins)
To me, all others colored coins are just an Ornament.

Yet another deadly creature in a dead series coming out. LOL. I wonder how many different creatures they'll make, and it's not like it is a small mintage either (5000). And there ain't no way in heck these are sell outs either. Maybe the red spider is about the only one. Too funny. They should have quit while ahead, like 8 ago.

Let's just put an LCD display on a coin and be done with it. Coloured coins can then go the way of old photos.

I can't believe someone went to the expense and hassle of having them graded, I can't believe that 131 of the sets have been graded in total.

I did like the tag line "Brand New 4 Coin Set !!! No Scratches, No Toning, No Damages of Any Kind !!! Perfect Coins in Perfect Condition !!!" Good to know.

I have a set but I have not bothered to put them in holders even, but then I paid about $8 for them rather than $350.

I thought the same thing when I first heard that people are actually foolish enough to stack silver....a metal that is not even remotely scarce by any stretch of the imagination. And yet, I became one of those fools!

If people are silly enough to stack silver, they are silly enough to buy plastic coins that are graded and slabbed.

The things that people do never cease to amaze me.

Coloured coins are ok; like everything, some are better than others. I've seen some cool ones and I've seen some really naff ones. But if collectors want to collect coloured coins - which they must do, as there's so many different ones around to buy - then good luck to them. Each to their own and all that...
